The “Villages & cités de caractère” label distinguishes villages and towns with exceptional heritage, encompassing architecture, gastronomy, craftsmanship, landscapes, and more. The Alpes-de-Haute-Provence department has fifteen labeled communes, four of which are located in Authentic Haute-Provence: Mane, Dauphin, Saint-Michel-l’Observatoire, and Simiane-la-Rotonde.
